DESCRIPTION

Elaris Vael appears as a woman in her early thirties, though nothing about her presence feels bound to that moment. There is a stillness to her - not emptiness, but completeness, as though she is never in a hurry to become anything other than what she already is.

Her robes fall in layered blues, absorbing the forest light around her. When she casts, her magic manifests in ordered circles and quiet geometries, symbols aligning with a kind of inevitability rather than force. Nothing flares. Nothing erupts. It simply… settles into correctness.

She does not repeat herself. She does not rush. And she does not forget.

LORE

Elaris is an Archivist of Continuance who believes that distance weakens truth. Where others of her kind record from afar, she immerses herself in the worlds she studies, documenting not only events, but context, consequence, and contradiction.

Her records are layered across time - revised, annotated, and cross-referenced with outcomes that may not yet have occurred. To her, inconsistency is not error, but evidence of perspective not yet fully understood.

She encountered Kelwyn as an anomaly - a presence whose actions generate disproportionate philosophical consequence. Rather than resolve that anomaly, she chose to remain near it, observing its unfolding with quiet dedication.

In time, that observation became something more deliberate. Not attachment, precisely - but continuity.

She intervenes rarely. But when she does, it is because something risks becoming irrecoverable.

TACTICS

Elaris avoids direct confrontation unless necessary. She controls space, information, and inevitability.

She opens with divination and awareness, establishes control through Wall of Force and Blade Barrier, and removes uncertainty with True Seeing and Scrying. Summons are used to occupy threats while she repositions the battlefield.

If pressed, she escalates cleanly and without hesitation. If not, she ends encounters before they truly begin.

KELWYN’S NOTES

Ah… Elaris Vael. A most curious presence - not because she seeks to be, but because she cannot help but be otherwise.

She is, in every meaningful sense, patient. Not the sort of patience born of restraint, but the kind that emerges when one has simply outlived the need for urgency. Conversations with her are… deliberate affairs. One does not exchange words with Elaris - one places them, carefully, knowing they will be considered long after they are spoken.

What I find most striking is not her intellect - though it is considerable - but her refusal to allow that intellect to become hurried. She does not chase conclusions. She allows them to arrive. There is a discipline in that which I find… increasingly rare.

We are, as one might expect, not aligned in all things. Her perspective favors preservation where mine leans toward interpretation. She would sooner ensure a thing remains intact; I, perhaps, would be tempted to see how it changes under pressure. And yet, these differences do not divide us. If anything, they create a rather productive tension - one that sharpens rather than fractures.

I trust her. Not because she agrees with me - she often does not - but because she does not need to. Her decisions are not guided by convenience, nor by sentiment, but by a quiet and unwavering sense of continuity. When she chooses to act, it is because she has determined that the alternative would result in something… irretrievable.

And that, I think, is what defines her most clearly. Elaris does not intervene to shape the world as she wishes it to be. She intervenes only when she believes something of value might otherwise be lost beyond recovery. There is a gravity to that kind of judgment - one I have come to respect, even when I do not entirely share it.

A remarkable woman, in truth. Not loud, not forceful, not eager to be known… and yet, once known, rather difficult to forget.
